The traditional on-site fabrication and installation method for solvent recovery units involves long construction periods, numerous cross-operations, and significant quality variations influenced by on-site conditions. The skid-mounted approach involves completing the manufacturing, piping, and commissioning of the unit in the factory, transporting it to the site in its entirety or in skid-mounted sections, positioning it, connecting the piping, and powering it on for operation. Custom skid-mounted projects combine the user's specific operating conditions with the skid-mounted model to deliver a "ready-to-use" recovery unit upon arrival at the site.

What is the advantage of skid-mounted equipment

Controllable construction period: In-plant manufacturing and on-site civil engineering are carried out in parallel, compressing the on-site construction period from months to weeks. Centralized quality control: Welding, pressure testing, and instrument installation are all completed in a controlled environment in the factory. Before leaving the factory, the entire machine undergoes a test run with medium, leaving only interface work on site. Compact footprint: The skid modules are arranged to minimize land occupation, with pipeline trays pre-installed in place, simplifying on-site foundations. For renovation projects, skid-mounted systems also avoid long production downtimes, allowing for a short switching window between old and new systems.

How to carry out customization

Luoyang Wohong Petrochemical Equipment: Introduction to the Customized Delivery Project of Skid-mounted Solvent Recovery Unit

Customization begins with condition research: processing capacity, component concentration, temperature requirements, site conditions, and utility conditions are confirmed item by item, and the research checklist is filled out grid by grid, leaving no ambiguous items. In the scheme phase, the process route and skid division are determined: large devices are transported in skids and docked on site, while small devices are shipped as a whole skid; key nodes in the manufacturing phase are open to users, and pressure testing and instrument installation are controlled; factory acceptance involves on-load trial operation, with users on site to confirm performance data; in the delivery phase, equipment is placed in position, connected, and commissioned, and after performance assessment meets standards, it is put into operation.

During the skid division in the planning phase, transportation conditions must be taken into account: the clearance and load-bearing capacity of roads, bridges, and culverts, as well as the lifting sites on both sides, should all be listed in the research inventory to avoid the situation where the plan is finalized but the equipment cannot be transported in. The interfaces of the skids should be pre-inspected item by item before on-site docking, and photos of the protection status of flange faces, electrical connectors, and instrument joints should be taken and archived, so that there is evidence to refer to in case of disputes upon arrival.

The delivery package includes the skid body, accompanying documents (drawings, qualification certificates, operation and maintenance manuals), commissioning records, and performance assessment reports. The performance assessment is based on the contract indicators: processing capacity, recovery rate, and emission concentration are tested item by item. The assessment period usually involves continuous operation for several days, and acceptance is signed after the data meets the standards. After-sales service is provided according to the quality assurance terms, with remote diagnosis and regular follow-ups covering the initial stage of operation. Operation training is completed simultaneously during the commissioning phase, and the format of the operation record forms is determined at the time of delivery, ensuring that complete records are available from the first day of device operation.

Steps of the project

  1. Operating condition investigation: Confirm each item of gas composition, temperature, and site;
  2. Scheme design: Determine the process route and skid division;
  3. In-plant manufacturing: Key nodes are open, and pressure testing instruments are controlled;
  4. Factory acceptance: trial operation with medium and load;
  5. On-site preparation: take over, power on, connect, and debug;
  6. Performance assessment: After testing according to the contract specifications, sign the acceptance document.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can existing devices be converted into skid-mounted ones?

For local renovation, skid-mounted modules can be used to replace corresponding units, and the interfaces between the new modules and the existing system should be considered comprehensively during the design phase. During the renovation evaluation, the workload related to interfaces should be listed separately, as this item is often underestimated. Only by listing it separately can the actual cost be accurately calculated.

Is the maintenance space for the skid-mounted device sufficient?

The layout of the skid is verified during the planning phase based on the maintenance access: the space for extracting the heat exchanger core, hoisting the compressor, and operating the valve components is determined item by item. Compactness is achieved through layout optimization, not by squeezing out the maintenance space.

Can a device with high air volume also be skid-mounted?

There is an upper limit. Due to transportation size constraints, oversized devices are either skid-mounted or fabricated on-site. The plan phase is verified based on transportation conditions: road clearance, bridge and culvert load-bearing capacity, and lifting site are all included in the research checklist. The transportation conditions are verified first, and then the plan is determined.
